We are pioneering the digital preservation of fashion archives through 3D Gaussian Splatting technology, transforming how cultural institutions protect and share their fashion & textile collections.

Working in partnership with Nephelie Technologies at Fashion Museum Bath, photorealistic digital twins are being created that capture every intricate detail—from delicate fabric weaves and natural drape to fine embellishments. This cutting-edge scanning methodology enables fragile garments to be experienced by global audiences without the risk of physical handling or deterioration.

Through 3DGS technology, historic fashion collections are being unlocked as accessible, interactive digital resources. Researchers, students, curators, and visitors worldwide can now explore these collections, opening new pathways for education, conservation research, and cross-collection study.

This innovative approach bridges heritage preservation with technological advancement, ensuring that our fashion history remains vibrant and accessible for future generations while supporting the sustainable digitisation practices that are reshaping the industry.

Discover how digital transformation is revolutionising fashion preservation and contributing to a more transparent, sustainable future for the industry.

Gary Kinsgley [Fabric Technical Manager, Dewhirst]

  • “The main thing people want to do when they see fashion in museums is wear it! This is impossible with items in a museum that are often behind glass. Gabby’s work showed the power of digital technology to take emotional engagement with our fashion collection to the next level by meeting this need. The joy and wonder that participants felt using the technology, as well as a better understanding of how the clothing we hold would have looked when worn, was amazing and we look forward to seeing how we can incorporate something like this in our new museum.”

Robert Campbell [Head of Culture & Heritage, Bath and North East Somerset Council]
